All the Color

I want to savor all the colors of the summer and fall for as long as I can. Every summer, I cut my flowers when they are barely past peak. They have already presented the best version of themselves to the world. They still look full and fresh when I nip them off the mother plants to dry and press them. I will ultimately do something with them. Maybe I’ll use them to eco-print on fabric or paper. Maybe I will make a vat of dye. We’ll see.

In my part of the world, it is now late fall. Leaves in glorious shades of red, orange, yellow and purple are falling at a furious pace and I’ve been collecting them like mad. I want to save all of them! I love color. It’s a mood booster. Winter is around the corner and I’m trying not to think about it. The landscape can get pretty barren around here. Therefore, I am hoarding color now, saving it for when it’s needed. I can bring it back into the world through my creative work, piece by piece.
